Dear Editor,
I was one of the fortunate 72 admitted to President’s College (PC) in 1985 and am forever grateful to the teachers and staff, who guided us through those formative years. But times have changed and PC is sailing on like a rudderless ship.
There are a few things that we must come to grip with. Read the rest of this entry »

DeGroot trying to appoint Trim Deputy Principal

with 7 comments

it never ends with david degroot and his shenanigans. he is now trying to get Cheryl Trim appointed as Deputy Principal of President’s College before she resigns from her Principal position!!! [sounds like madness? well it is]

remember Trim was acting as principal after being a senior mistress so she was never appointed as deputy or principal as she lacked the necessary credentials. as payback for her years helping him steal DeGroot is now trying to give Trim a nice going away package. He might also be trying to shut her up as she leaves with a lot of knowledge on who stole what, when and for what as her signature is on a long trail of fraudulent paper work.

David De Groot linked to more financial irregularities at President’s College

with 2 comments

President of the Guyana Teachers’ Union, Colwyn King, has expressed frustration at what he called blatant irregularities and financial misappropriation by a section of the Board of Directors and the management of President’s College.

The main bone of contention is the illegal removal of the previous president of the institution’s parent-teacher association, Dr. Simpson Da Silva, and the subsequent manipulation of two European-funded projects which Da Silva had initiated. Read the rest of this entry »

Another illegal PTA meeting held at PC

leave a comment »

It’s been brought to our attention that another illegal PTA meeting was held on Tuesday October 7th 2008 headed by the Principal with persons who are not part of the PTA Executive.
This meeting was held to remove and replace the current Chairman of the PTA who was not present at the meeting and possibly even not aware that the meeting was being held.

The Constitution clearly states that before PTA elections are held, the Executive must meet to set the date of the said elections. This was clearly explained by the man who wrote the Constitution governing all PTA’s in Guyana at the last illegal PTA meeting called by the Principal who does not have the Constitutional authority to call a PTA meeting!

Police called at PTA meeting – DeGroot violates more rules

leave a comment »

we’ve gotten information that Police were called in at the PTA meeting that was held today to arrest the Chairman of the Guyana Teachers Union who was there in a private capacity. He was no arrested but the meeting apparently degenerated into a big free for all. No elections were held from the information we’re getting. David DeGroot was also sitting at the head table we’re told, another violation of PTA rules and constitution.

More to come later.

What is David DeGroot planning behind the scenes?

with one comment

It seems as if David DeGroot is going out of his way to derail the $9.5M Information Technology project. This project is to be managed by the PTA Executive Committee and we’ve heard that DeGroot through a letter to the EU is angling to control the funds with his friend and collaborator Derrick Jodhan.

PTA to hold elections Sunday 28

with 2 comments

PTA will be holding a meeting to elect members of the board for 2008/2009. Technically this is an illegal as the letter calling this meeting was written and signed by the Principal, Cheryl Trim in violation of the PTA’s constitution. The person vested with the duties of writing such letters is the Secretary of the PTA who currently is Ms. Beckles.
